Beethoven’s only opera tells a story of heroism and true love as the redeeming forces of humanity. Writer/Director Nick Olcott’s new English adaptation sets the drama in a 20th century South American dictatorship: Leonora, disguised as Fidelio, infiltrates an infamous jail to find and rescue her desaparecido husband, Florestán, from political imprisonment.
