My dear friends,
As the pace of this Fall transitions into Winter’s festive holiday season, the artists, staff, board, and volunteers at IN Series wish you laughter, joy, connection, and contentment! I want to acknowledge how challenging this year has been for many of us and how divided things may feel. Personally, I am bolstered by beautiful memories of you, our IN Series audience, coming together in the shared experience of live music and theater. I hold in my mind the moment just before each show when I stand before you and see a widely diverse audience, and have certainty in the power of music and theater to heal us and, for at least a few hours, I know you will share the unifying experience that only art can foster.
This past year IN Series opened creative space and opportunity to over 200 local artists, creating artistic experiences that fire the mind and soul, and make this community a better, more grace-filled place. In 2024, these artists brought you LAS MISTICAS DE MEXICO; THE RETURN OF ULYSSES, and Marc Blitzstein’s THE CRADLE WILL ROCK. We also took time to celebrate poet June Jordan and world-renowned director Peter Sellars, and up next is our circus production of RIGOLETTO.
Each year, I come to you at this time to ask for your generous support to ensure we continue to move forward – a request critical to our health and continued success. I’m so excited to announce that this winter’s appeal is supported by a match from the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, the IN Series Board, and other generous donors that means your gift to IN Series will be doubled and go twice as far. EVERY gift matters and goes directly to supporting art and artists. We need your help.
Since becoming The IN Series in 2000, our one-of-a-kind organization has never had a theater of its own. While we love moving throughout our community and presenting in different spaces, we long for the artistic and organizational strength that comes from a permanent home. I’m thrilled to share that a unique opportunity for a permanent home theater has opened to us. As we explore the potential for this exciting new chapter for IN Series, we also know that a reserve of financial resources will allow us to take such a step prudently and with confidence. In that spirit, we are launching a campaign to establish a reserve fund that will allow us to realize a new and bright future.
We’re asking you, our generous family of supporters, to consider a one-time increase in your annual gift to us, doubling that gift if possible, so that we can dedicate those additional gifts to an operating reserve which will lead to a home for IN Series. Throughout the next year we will be raising funds to fortify this reserve, and that work begins now. I ask you to please consider this increased giving and to be a part of radically reshaping the next chapter for an organization you love. I hope you will join us on this journey.
