An empowering ‘café-teatro’ of Latin-América and Spain’s nueva canción or trova. Cuban Silvio Rodríguez, Chileans Violeta Parra and Victor Jara, Spaniard Joan Manuel Serrat, Puertorican Rafael Hernández, other Latinos, wrote passionate songs, rooted in indigenous folk music.  Their nostalgic lyricism became emblematic of struggles for freedom and social justice. Artists like Joan Baez and Mercedes Sosa brought renown to Gracias a la vidaLa Jardinera, Vengo a ofrecer mi corazón, Lamento Borincano… Enjoy these songs and more, in the stirring renditions of Diana Sáez & Friends –Pavel Urkiza, Suzzette Ortiz, Leo Alvarez.
