ARLEN & BERLIN OCCUPY THE FRINGE!

Directed by Abel Lopez and Angelisa Gillyard, with a script by Bari Biern and musical direction by Stanley Thurston, this atypical cabaret features hits and lesser-known selections from the film and Broadway careers of Harold Arlen and Irving Berlin, two musical giants whose classic songs continue to resonate, giving pleasure to a whole new generation.

The six characters in ARLEN & BERLIN OCCUPY THE FRINGE! just want to talk to someone. Finding themselves in DC’s Freedom Plaza, they begin to share their worries about money and jobs. They fantasize about romance or long for a lost love. They kvetch and dream and reflect. Their hopes, dreams and musings take the form of legendary lyrics as they imagine themselves “in or out of the money” or going “over the rainbow.”

The cast includes baritone Lew Freeman, soul singer Pam Ward, dancer-singers Tammy Roberts, Gregory Stuart and Leslie Vincent, the cool saxophone of Marshall Keys,  music director Stanley Thurston at the piano.
